If you'd like to know more about the rationale behind the game, read below - but it contains a whole bunch of spoilers, so don't read it until you've played through the game completely! (It's a super quick game anyway, no more than 10 minutes in total)

If you don't want to read about what the game involves, skip ahead to the Installation section.

******************************SPOILERS BELOW**************************************

This game - the first one I've ever made - is an abstract representation of a reoccurring dream I used to have shortly after my mother passed away from cancer a few years ago. The dream would basically go as follows:

My mother is alive again, but she's as ill as she was right before her passing. In the dream, I'm aware that she had been dead and that I had finally "adjusted" to life without her. But now that she's back - and as sick as before - I feel an awful mixture of emotions. Besides the expected hurt and confusion, I feel resentment towards her for returning in this state, and I feel compelled to run away from the same pain I felt seeing her like that the first time. And then I feel immense guilt over having those thoughts in the first place.

But eventually, in the dream I start remembering everything I love about her - the comfort, warmth, protection. It all comes back to me. Then, as soon as I "get used to" her presence again, and accept that she's alive once more - I wake up.

Man, honestly, this game hit home... and hard... I would like to talk to you about it but, I feel it's a bit too uhm, weird for a stranger to just come out and tell you everything about themselves haha. In public, however, I will say that I felt the same with my grandmother who died a few years back as well. Thank you for this. Congrats on creating and uploading your first game by the way and I hope this won't be your only one ha. Stay safe :)

Thank you so much for this Aten, wow I'm really touched by your response! Would totally be down for talking more about this. It's something that so many people can relate to I'm sure. I'm real new to this platform so am not sure if there's a DM function is there..?

Thanks so much again, you stay safe too. Much love!

As far as I know, no there isn't a DM feature, unfortunately but I usually add people to my Discord if you'd like ha. Also, if you need music for a game or anything like that, I'd be willing to lend a hand :) I'm a music producer and have worked sound design for a few teams. I am also pretty well-versed with RPG Maker MV. Been trying to create a short story with it myself, actually ha. Well, if you'd like to talk more, my Discord is Aten#2138

I wish you the best :)

Hey, there~! I'm LUIGINATOR, and I run a small YouTube channel! I think your game looks interesting, and I'd love to do a video on it, but I always like to ask permission first to make sure the creator's cool with it! So, with that said, could I do a video of your game for my channel?

Here's a link to my channel so you have an idea what the video'll be like/how your game will be represented!

Hey there! So sorry for the late reply, that sounds so great of course I'd be cool with that (if you're still interested that is 😂) !

Haha No worries; life do be happenin'! I'd still love to~! I'll letcha know when the video is completed! :)

Indeed it do! That's great, am looking forward!

Hey, I checked this out. I didn't see it in the entries last night! lol But Congrats on making your first game. Playing just the game was a little confusing to me as to what it had to do with the theme and what was actually going on. But after reading your story concept, it made more sense to me. It's nice to know there wasn't a single jump scare in here and no flashing lights "like most horror" games. The concept of the story is pretty cool. I liked how you added in elements of interaction into a text based game. it was very interesting. Nice work!

Ah fantastic thanks so much for the feedback, and for taking the time to play it! Had such a great time, will defs be doing more game jams and the like in the future.

Appreciate it!
